Being exposed to various areas including Lanao del Norte, Marawi and Lanao del Sur made me discover their local food. There was this time when I traveled with DSWD in Balo-i, it was there that I first tasted “Palapa.” It is from their “One Town One Product” displays. It was also in Karkum village of Sapad, Lanao del Norte, that I get to eat this delicious “Doldol.”
This is the reason that I am the happiest when I learned about Babu Kwan Restaurant, the first ever restaurant offering Maranao food. It reminds me of my younger years, where I began exploring about different amazing things outside my comfort zone.
Babu Kwan offer a lot of flavours ranging from seafood, veges, beef to chicken dishes that will ultimately win your heart. Moreover, the ambiance of the place will transcend you to beautiful restos in Lanao del Sur. They have uniquely designed tables and chairs. And oh, I love their chairs. It somewhat mini version of our center table in the office, our “Baul” having delicately designed white paint on it, that our office bought in Marawi. Plus, they display pretty wall decors.
Below are my personal picks (And I tell you, it was quite hard to pick):
1. Fish Kwan
2. BK Wings
3. Garlic Shrimp
4. Fries at Babu Kwan
5. Cara/Beef Randang
6. Lumpia
The foods look very delicious and the place is great!
