My Iloilo article got published in Dubai-based Kabayan Weekly
Hello everyone! It’s a holiday and I am happy to share with you all one thing that I consider a milestone in my writer life. My first entry on Travel and Leisure page for Kabayan Weekly, “Food Hopping in Iloilo” was published last Thursday!
For your information, Kabayan Weekly is the first Filipino newspaper in United Arab Emirates and it is based in Dubai. The paper circulates 70,000 copies (Woah!) around Emirates and releases newspapers every Thursday. I cannot contain my happiness. My heart is really full! I am so, so grateful already with my local contributions being published, but having an article reaching overseas, which can be read by fellow Filipinos working abroad and may be with other nationalities residing in this country is just OVERWHELMING. I thank my Editor for this opportunity (also for constantly following up and telling me my works are always welcome!) and I hope I could contribute more soon.
I started writing this article only a long time ago but concluded it just recently. Better, if I may say, because it is a chance for me to add flavors intended for readers abroad. Hence, the thought of this article is to give them closer view to a destination so good and recommendable if they plan to come home in the Philippines in the near future to revisit our culture and history, enjoy our breathtaking sceneries and experience once again the Filipino hospitality. I guess, these are everywhere in the Philippines but one place at a time and I personally pick Iloilo first, because of my firsthand information gathered during my last 2018 trip.
I mainly featured Iloilo food in this particular entry. The photo above shows plate of scallops we devoured at Gigantes Island, the scallops capital of the Philippines.
Gigantes Island in Carles, Iloilo. The place where we ate sumptuous seafoods.
Hence, if you are in the UAE, there are physical copies for grabs in different malls and other establishments. I hope I got your back in this. I learned most copies are distributed for free! (Hehe. Mwuah!)
I am publishing here a screen cap of the digital copy sent to me by Kabayan Weekly, for convenience of my friends here in Ph. These will also appear in their official Facebook page by next week, together with the full copy.
Kabayan Weekly: It’s all about Filipinos can be followed through their Facebook page and official website.
