It always brings me joy that in this era, we, women, are empowered already. Gone are the days that women are FORCED to stay home because their education and rights are limited. These days, a woman is a police, a soldier, a doctor, an intelligence officer, a journalist and a lot more. The definition as a woman has come a long way compared from before and already infinite, that whichever path she chose in life, she will champion in it.
Every March is a celebration of existence and essence of women. For this year until 2022, we have the theme, “We Make Change Work for Women.” Different offices are encouraged to take part through conducting related activities that emphasize the importance of women and recognizing their rights, and also spreading information about the highlight of this month through for one, hanging Women’s Month tarpaulins in their vicinities.
I am so glad that aside from this, I was able to be part of some gatherings of different organizations. These exposures made me more proud of women of all generation and opened my eyes more to continuously strive in addressing the issues that remained unheard, in my own little ways.
I watched the production of Eve Esler’s The Vagina Monologues in Cagayan de Oro City. This is a theatre play that features different scenes focusing on experiences and stages of being a woman. It also encourages appreciation on natural stages of where a woman is, and making the most of herself in each life stage.
In the play, one of my favorite parts is the scene with this line, coming from Monsters by Adeva Esparrago:
“And you, woman, who haven’t been told. You are a goddess. You hold the world in one hand, while you hold a book or a child in another and walk in six inch heels. You are powerful. You are beautiful. You ought to know, you are enough. The world owes you.”
Second one is the We Are Women event presented by SM CDO Downtown Premier and hosted by Maxine Monasterio-Mejia. The event featured four beautiful speakers.
Ms. Tisha Biruar of @_thatfunnyface Instagram account taught us basic skincare and beauty routines that will allow glowing skin and boost of confidence among women. If you watched my IG stories, I filmed her Beauty Talk in there.
Ms. Karen Lluch spoke about her experiences in life being a daughter, a family woman, a mother, a teacher and an advocate. She is an illness survivor and her story remind us to always live life to the fullest and more than that, is to keep the faith because our God Almighty always has the greater plans.
The next one is Ms. Tweetie Bullecer, a pole dancing instructor who presented the importance of Fitness. She started pole dancing in her adult age already and tells everyone that there’s no particular age in pole dancing or whatever sports you are in. Back in her base in Davao, she teaches women of all ages and no one think that they are already too old for pole dancing.
Having this activity also trains focus, discipline, self-love and self-importance and most of all, this contributes to overall health.
Thereafter, she performed pole dance infront of the SM CDO Downtown Premier crowd and she is so amazing!
Ms. Mags Cue of Mags Chain of Boutiques, on the other hand, delivered a video message for the participants. She is supposedly to discuss more about Fashion and Style. I think, her topic would be more on encouraging women of today to develop personal style, and they must at times dress themselves up in order for them to be more confident to beautifully, confidently run the world.
March 2019 is such a memorable month for us women. Girls, always remember that you are important and you matter.
