CDO Bloggers Ball 2018
Last November 17, Cagayan de Oro Bloggers gathered for “10 and Fabulous Bloggers’ Ball” to celebrate its 10th anniversary and renew commitment in blogging and celebrating the riches of Cagayan de Oro and its people (as quoted from our Pres. Maia Poblete’s post). It was held at SM CDO Downtown Tower. Our theme is Rebellious in Black and Gold; hence, expectedly most of us dressed in black and gold. As for me, I do not know what’s rebellious in my outfit as I stayed in my favorite and always-be debutante cocktail dress.
Everyone looked elegant and the night went long with food, drinks, laughter and lots, lots of prizes from our partners. I won a gift certificate from Ororama CDO and I plan to purchase it with my bling-blings since Ororama’s fashion accessories are nice.
Congressman Rufus Rodriguez is our guest speaker for the night and he said a lot of things. Some are points I did not fully realized until I heard him, like for Mommy Bloggers, they exist to mainly share advice in parenting and what are the common do’s and don’ts who are great help to new moms. Another instance he cited is how his legit social media account brought government services closer to the people through answering basic questions. He said social media made millennials from faraway places made his Facebook Page a venue to message their concerns about his scholarship offerings, where his team can easily address and provide information. His message to the bloggers community is long and these are realizations for most of us, especially that we may be misunderstood at some point.
It feels amazing to know how our blogger group grow and continue rowing for a decade now. It is my third year as a member of CDO Bloggers and it kept me busy all these years! (Hehe.) Kidding aside, busy because we attend, organize and participate in several events in and outside the city and I am so much happy to note that despite the pressure of keeping timeliness in blog and social media posts, CDO Bloggers never fails to make my heart full – full with gratitude and happiness because I was able to practice my social responsibility in promoting the city that made my life for the past 9 years. You know, what my job made me ponder – from being a media practitioner (that I believe I still am) to being a government employee is working and being productive is not enough, career growth is not inside the four corners but it is there when you begin to interact with people, take part in different causes and help your country grow in your own small ways. For all the years that I have been working, I am happy to know that I also see this inside my workplaces. More of it is when I started believing with the advocacy of CDO Bloggers – what it is standing for makes me proud. It is not easy to convince a lot of people who know less about Mindanao that it is safe and so much normal to be in here. However, with little social media posts and sharing good news about the city is showing to the world the normal life that we have, the resiliency our people has and the golden friendship Cagayan de Oro has to offer. I am proud the group has been faithful to this cause and it is something to be celebrated about in the 10 and Fabulous Bloggers’ Ball.
I am sharing to you below some of our and my photos during the ball.
It is an amazing 10 and fabulous years, CDO Bloggers and I am excited to unravel some more.
