Farm Visit at Fresh Valley Farm

I am sorry for a long blogging hiatus. I have been assigned to coverages and press con attendance for days in a row, and I have to work on my articles in order to put sense to everything I have attended, not mentioning how many times I have to spin everything in my head and look for different several angles since I also contribute to my national paper.

Anyways, Thursday last week, Department of Agriculture of Region X toured us to their partner farms in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon. This is a learning tour after our discussion last late August regarding vegetable industry and the upcoming 14th national vegetable congress that Cagayan de Oro is hosting in the mid of September.

The photos below are taken at Valley Fresh Farms. It is a farm that mainly grow bell peppers. They also have pechay, leather ferns, strawberries, flowers and many others. Their farm manager also shared to us ideas about the farm and their practices. It is just so awesome how Agriculture in our region is improving and how it provide livelihood to the folks living in their place which extend to spending for their children’s education.

Farmers taking care of bell peppers inside the rain shelter. Planting of bell peppers take 3-4 months, and since it is continuous, the farm harvests every 2 weeks.

I bought a box of strawberries for just P80.00.

Thanks a lot for your picture, its very helpfull for me because i was planing to go for some days in this area around Valley Fresh Farm.
I am not interested in commercial agriculture, no , i am looking for a nice place somewhere in philippine a little bit high up where the daly temperature is not to hot. …… panning to buy some land beside a little brook, building a hous where my girlfriend from buttuan ones can open a little restaurant.

hey, what do you mean with ” life isn`t inside the comfort zone” ?
    regards
    Helmut

Hello Mr. Helmut! Thank you for dropping by. If your girlfriend is from Butuan, I suggest you invest at Bukidnon because it is a very nice place. It’s cold at night time, but moderate on day time, and it’s not too hot in the area. However, you can ask her. Maybe she could suggest something better.

“Life isn’t the comfort zone” in my profile means living beyond limits, beyond what you think you are capable to do.

      Thank you once again!
